Centinela Adobe’s Annual Fiesta will be held Sunday, September 13, 2015 from noon to 4:00 pm.  The Fiesta will celebrate the heritage of the California Rancho Days and feature Folklorico Dancers, Mariachis, Pinata Party, Handmade Tortillas, Quesadillas and Pan Dulce.  Lace Making, Butter Churning and Wool Spinning will be demonstrated.  Tour the South Bay’s first home, the Centinela Adobe and the first Real Estate Office, the Daniel Freeman Land Office.  Admission is free and refreshments are available for purchase.  Neighborhood street parking with shuttle van service to the Adobe.  Tram stops located at Goddard and Benjamin and at Hindry and Benjamin.

From Wikipedia: The Centinela Adobe, which is the Centinela Valley’s oldest residence, was built by Ygnacio Machado in 1834. Since then, farmers, ranchers, a Scotsman, and Inglewood’s founding father, Daniel Freeman, have lived in the structure.[1] It is the oldest building in the area and has been called the “Birthplace of Inglewood.” More interesting background from LA Times.
