Save the date! Late-Summer Fruit Tree Pruning Workshop

Time for a trim?
Time for a trim?

A late summer pruning can really help shape your fruit trees for future production. That’s why Environmental Changemakers has invited veteran arborist Peiter Severynen to the Community Garden on September 10th to talk about late summer pruning.

This workshop promises that you’ll learn that different kinds of fruit trees need different types of shaping to encourage production. What to cut, and how to make the cuts will be discussed.

With 27 fruit trees in the Community Garden now, there are plenty for everyone to practice on. Bring your favorite pruning shears, bring your garden gloves, and bring sun protection.

The event starts in the Community Hall at 8am for a talk by Pieter. Then everybody will move outdoors to the Garden for demonstration and practice.

Bonus: The pruning workshop will complete in time for you to join the Pizza Bake at the wood-fired oven that same morning.

Fruit Tree Pruning Workshop Sat Sept 10, 8am-11am hosted by the Environmental Change-Makers Community Garden at Holy Nativity, 6700 W. 83rd, LA 90045. Suggested donation $20 Please RSVP here.
